Prof. K. C. Ho, BBS, JP is the Dean of School of Science & Technology and ‘Ng Chun Man Professor in Environmental Science & Conservation’ in the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK). He obtained BSc (Hons) from Chinese University of Hong Kong, M.Sc in Environmental resources from Salford University, PhD from the HKU and M.Ed from OUHK. He has a wide spectrum of academic interests including harmful algal blooms, water quality, environmental policies and management, ecological theology and environmental education. Up to now, Prof. Ho has published 33 books, ~400 academic papers in journals and conference proceedings, more than 10 technical reports for the Government and 8 sets of distance-learning course materials. He has visited the Antarctica three times and the Higher Arctic eight times for expedition and scientific research.
Prof. Ho’s public services include: current member of the Transport Advisory Committee, Aviation and 3rd Runway Advisory Committee, Lantau Development Committee, Steering Committee for Cleaner Production and Curriculum Development Committee for Liberal Studies. He was former Chairman of the Advisory Committee to the Quality of Water Supplies; former member of the Sustainable Development Council, Advisory Council on the Environment, Town Planning Board and Innovative Technology Committee etc. He served in the Council of Hong Kong Baptist University from 2008 – 2013 and as Supervisor of Hong Kong and Macau Pui Ching Middle Schools from 2000-2010. Social services include Chairman and subsequently President of Green Power, a renowned green group in Hong Kong, Vice Chairman of China Polar Museum Foundation, former Chairman of Hong Kong Climate Change Forum, Executive Council Member of the Green Council and President of the Green Environmental Protection Association of Macau. Professional services include Chairman of Association on Harmful Algal Blooms in South China Sea, former Council Member of International Society on the Study of Harmful Algae, Council Member of Chinese Society of Environmental Science and Founding President of Hong Kong Institute of Carbon Emission Reduction and Energy Management etc.
Professor Ho was conferred the “President’s Award on Distinguished Achievements” of OUHK three times, the “National Character Environmental Achievement Award” in 2009, “People of the Year - Scientific Chinese 2010” in 2011 and “Leader of the Time” award in 2013. In 2004, he was honoured by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administration Region the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) badge for extraordinary contributions to environmental protection and environmental research. He has been appointed the Judge of Peace (JP) since July 2014.
Ir C.F. Lam is a professional environmental and civil engineer with about 30 years of experience in a broad spectrum of infrastructural engineering, environmental management and pollution control. CF’s practice includes environmental policy formulation; sewerage infrastructure planning; waste management; environmental impact assessment; pollution prevention and control as well as legislative enforcement.
Ir Lam is currently an Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Green Strategy Alliance; Council Member and Deputy Chairman of Discipline Advisory Panel of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). He is also the Past Chairman of the Hong Kong Waste Management Association and the HKIE Environmental Division. CF is the Adjunct Professor of the University of Hong Kong and is also a frequent speaker at local and international conferences.
Otto is a Chartered Engineer and founder of ATAL Engineering Group. He also co-founded and was the Past Chairman of Hong Kong Climate Change Forum which organised a series of ICCCs.
Over the years, he served in various advisory committees and institutional organisations including Energy Advisory Committee, Advisory Council on the Environment and Council for Sustainable Development. He is the Past President of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and of Hong Kong Association of Energy Engineers, and Life President of Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors.
Currently, he is the Chairperson of Lift and Escalator Safety Advisory Committee and Council Member of HKQAA, to name a few.
Otto was confirmed Honorary Degree of Doctor of Technology by Coventry University and Honorary Fellowship by University of Central Lancashire. He is a Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences.
Dr. Jin-Guang Teng holds the positions of Ko Jan Ming Professor in Sustainable Structures and Materials, Chair Professor of Structural Engineering & Director of Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His current research interests include the innovative use of emerging structural materials to enhance the sustainability of civil engineering structures. He was elected a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences in 2013 and a Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2015.
